His experience is in high-rise buildings and multi-family developments; retro-fits and renovations; both in the private and public sectors, hard bid and negotiated contracts; with agencies such as HUD, the U.S. military, U.S. Dept. of Energy, states of Georgia and Maryland, and in concrete, steel and wood frame structures, and large wooden amusement park rides. Black also has international experience building in Japan, Brazil, Germany and Spain. Michael Black has also professionally managed and developed a number of successful real estate properties. In the legal arena: Being in construction, he has experience in court cases, and in alternative dispute resolution through arbitration and mediation. He was hired as a consultant and expert witness by the City of New York Legal Department in a winning multi-million dollar construction related case.
