Description
My name is Dr. Douglas Stolz, I hold a doctorate in atmospheric science as well as the certified consulting meteorologist seal of the American Meteorology Society. I have been practicing as a professional consulting meteorologist for four years; I currently own and operate Cross Product Atmospheric, LLC, a meteorological consulting firm based in Seattle, WA providing expert witness, forensic reporting, weather analysis, forecasting, technical development, and natural hazards training services for clients across the energy, technology, transportation, and insurance sectors. I have previously opined on severe weather event occurrence in the state of Washington. I am the current chair of the Association of Consulting Meteorologists Ethics and Standards Committee and liaison to the American Meteorological Society's Board of Best Practices. Following Hurricane Maria (2017), I spent one hundred and twenty-five days in San Juan, Puerto Rico supporting the Shelter and Temporary Essential Power (STEP PR) recovery effort to rebuild 120,000 homes that were damaged during the disaster. I have instructed over five hundred people on natural weather and climate hazards in more than three hundred hours of group training nationwide (including in the U.S. territories of Guam and Puerto Rico). Prior to 2016, I did atmospheric research for ten years to characterize the global variability of lightning and heavy rainfall in response to changing environmental factors. I am the lead author of four publications in the scientific literature about severe weather and climatology and I regularly provide peer-review for the Journal of Geophysical Research, Journal of Climate, Journal of Atmospheric Science, etc. My field duties during three separate research campaigns (from 2012-2015) were satellite position forecasting and data collection within the states of North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Washington.
