Sara Jurek, MD is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon whose robust clinical practice focuses primarily on shoulder surgery while also including sports medicine orthopedic surgery and orthopedic trauma surgery. She regularly performs complex shoulder replacement and shoulder fracture repair surgeries as well as arthroscopic shoulder surgeries including rotator cuff repair and stabilization procedures.

Dr. Jurek completed two orthopaedic surgery fellowships; one with the esteemed Kerlan Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles with Dr. John Itamura and one with the eminent Santa Monica Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group with Dr. Bert Mandelbaum.

She enjoys treating all disorders of the shoulder including rotator cuff tears, proximal humerus fractures, biceps tendinopathy, shoulder dislocations, shoulder arthritis, cuff tear arthropathy, adhesive capsulitis, and shoulder infections. She regularly employs nonoperative modalities to treat her patients and generally utilizes surgery only if conservative treatment fails or if the particular clinical situation mandates surgery. She has extensive training in treating athletes on the professional, collegiate, high school, and weekend warrior levels.

Dr. Jurek is an expert in her practice. She frequently sees patients who are seeking a second opinion and regularly performs revision shoulder surgeries as the second treating surgeon.

Dr. Jurek is an active member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) society, serving as a journal article reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (JSES). Additionally, she is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).

She holds medical licenses in the states of Washington and California.
