Description
Michael Salitore is an experienced school/district administrator, psychologist, and teacher, working in public education since 2003. Dr. Salitore has served as director of student services since 2014 managing special education/ federal programs, school safety, behavioral health, and administration of policy under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Most recently, Dr. Salitore has assumed a position (July, 2022) as director of student services in a district serving East Portland metro. As a school psychologist, he has experience in areas of assessment of children pre-k through post-high school with disabilities. As a teacher of college-age students since 2005 and a trainer for various school districts, he has experience teaching adults complex topics. Dr. Salitore has a proven track record of improving school structures and systems that lead to positive outcomes for students with disabilities. He has experience navigating the complex dynamics involved with school systems, both opportunity, and barriers that get in the way of student success. Dr. Salitore's doctoral work and dissertation focus is on the provision of the IDEA of Least Restrictive Environment and improving inclusive practices. He has experience with dispute resolution in special education. Dr. Salitore has a proven track record of improving systems, inclusive practices, and increasing student achievement through improvements of instructional design so that a wide range of students with disabilities can access learning in the general education setting. Dr. Salitore operates at the top of his administrative license by serving on state-level committees for special education leadership, administrative associations, curriculum association board leadership, and risk/ safety committee for NW Outward Bound School.
