Description
Dr. Baliunas is a board certified Emergency Physician who completed residency training at a busy Level I trauma center at an academic hospital. • He has acquired over 15 years of experience in emergency medicine in multiple practice settings. This includes clinical practice and teaching residents as an attending physician at a Level I trauma center, extensive experience practicing at a community Level II trauma center as well as multiple smaller community hospitals, including a small critical access hospital. His experience also includes supervision of medical students as well as nurse practitioners and physician assistants. This has allowed him to have perspectives on appropriate practice in each of these settings in multiple states. • HIs medical legal experience includes expert witness case analysis for both plaintiff and defense, case review as a medical malpractice panelist for the Indiana Department of Insurance as well as experience as an expert witness in sexual assault and forensic examination, including testimony at trial. • He has held leadership positions on many hospital committees, including nursing, ICU (intensive care), stroke and pediatrics as well as performed research and published in orthopedics, sepsis and COVID-19. • He is currently the Emergency Department Medical Director as well as the Medical Staff President at Beacon Bremen Hospital in Bremen, Indiana. • Dr. Baliunas also has leadership roles in two companies specializing in medicine. He was also elected as the chairman of the policy and procedures committee for Curative Medical, where he helped to oversee the administration of over 2 million COVID-19 vaccines in 10 states. • Dr. Baliunas is licensed in Michigan, Indiana, Texas and Florida.
