Dr. Piontek is an Active Member of both the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has been Board Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Orthopedic Surgery since 1988. He has undergone Recertification every ten years. His present Recertification extends until 2028.

As a member and cofounder of the St. Luke's Hospital Orthopedic Services LLC he has been involved in decisions and consultation regarding patient satisfaction, staff education, implant evaluation and purchasing, operating room efficiency, and quality assurance. He has been the hospital's User/Coordinator to the American Joint Replacement Registry.
