Handwriting identification is the most common type of examination performed by an FDE. This can include authenticating the questioned signature(s) on a document, or perhaps establishing the authorship of a holographic will or anonymous letter.
Linda Mitchell is especially interested in complex cases involving multiple documents, digital technology or malpractice matters. These types of cases can include developing indented writings and dating entries.
Linda's most recent publication was featured in Digital Forensic Investigator News regarding the analysis of digital signatures. Currently she is doing research in connection to the reliability of hand printing identification, the results of which will be presented at the annual conference of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences in Las Vegas (2016)
Ms. Mitchell is one of 113 forensic document examiners who are presently certified by the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners.(2014) This signifies that she has successfully passed a battery of testing procedures including evaluation and scrutiny of her skills by a panel of seasoned document examiners.
